September 3 - Space Expo
Today we went to the Space Expo here in Noordwijk at the European Space Centre. Familiar to Irene, who used to work there as a temp during here university days. Yolanda, me and the kids go and we find a closed gate. Luckily we were going to meet Torgeir here as well, an old friend and colleague and he magically opens the gates to the expo for us and gives us a private tour.
The exhibition shows history and present of the space exploration - children/family travel oriented. There is information about different planets, space vehicles and space in general. There are full size Ariane-5 rocket boosters who 'take off' every hour, quite an experience to stand next it enveloped in smoke and noise!
We also had a good look at an astronaut suit, went inside interior of a Space Lab and saw a miniture Mars-rider.
Furthermore we find many smaller size models of satellites, shuttle, and space station, large walk-on satellite photos of Holland and
a 'space-style' playground outside.
Kids thought it was great fun and we did too. |
